What is a Skilled Nursing Facility?
AHCA National Quality Award:
An award honoring providers and long-term care professionals that portray excellence in the sector and have made an impact in skilled nursing assisted living communities and intellectual and developmental disabilities communities.
At our Five-Star CMS Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), we provide exceptional care and support for individuals who need extra medical attention and help with everyday tasks.
Whether it’s for a short or long period, we are here to ensure you receive the best possible care to improve your health and well-being.
- What is a skilled nursing facility: A skilled nursing facility is a place where people go after a hospital stay for specialized care and rehabilitation.
- Long-Term and Post-Acute Care: We provide exceptional long-term and post-acute care services for seniors and individuals in need of specialized rehabilitation.
- Comprehensive Support: Whether it’s subacute care, transitional care, or ongoing elderly care, our skilled nursing and rehabilitation center offers the comprehensive support necessary for a successful journey.
- Expert Staff: Our team consists of highly trained healthcare professionals who are experienced in providing personalized care and attention.
Difference Between a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and an Assisted Living Facility (ALF)
Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) are different types of places where people can receive care. Here are a few key differences:
- Medical Care and Assistance:
- SNF: SNFs have healthcare professionals available around the clock to provide medical care and assistance. They can help with complex medical needs.
- ALF: ALFs focus more on helping with daily activities like bathing and taking medicine. They don’t provide as much medical care as SNFs.
- Level of Support:
- SNF: SNFs offer more support, especially for people who need specialized therapies or care after being in the hospital.
- ALF: ALFs are for people who need less help with daily activities but still want some support. They provide services like cooking and cleaning.
- Care Setting:
- SNF: SNFs look more like hospitals, with private or shared rooms and areas for medical treatments. They also have common areas for socializing and activities. They follow strict rules to keep patients safe.
- ALF: ALFs are more like homes, with apartments or private rooms for residents. They have common areas for socializing and activities.
- Payment and Insurance Coverage:
- SNF: Medicare and Medicaid may cover some of the costs of SNF care, especially after a hospital stay. Private insurance may also help.
- ALF: People usually have to pay for ALF care themselves, as it’s not covered by Medicare. Some long-term care insurance might help.
